Creative Wellbeing Walk - Draw Me A Tree

Join us on one of our five open access Draw Me A Tree workshops!

  • Hilsea Lines Nature Reserve, Scott Road, Hilsea

Workshop Info:

Reconnect with nature on our creative wellbeing walks at the beautiful Hilsea Lines Nature Reserve, on the edge of Portsea Island. These sessions are designed to refresh your mind and reset your focus before the week ahead. We'll be walking for around 45 minutes - 1 hour, then taking a break to make sketches of our surroundings until the end of the session. The purpose of these groups is to connect our community, soak in the benefits of nature, explore the environment, and take some time to just breathe. These walks offer the opportunity to develop your connection to the natural world, talk to others, reflect and creatively engage with the experience together. We all live in a society driven by high expectation, stress, responsibilities and deadlines. This type of lifestyle has a huge impact on mental health and wellbeing, something that effects us all. Nature is a hugely powerful tool in helping relieve some of the mental and physical pressures of life, providing an endless list of benefits across all ages. These include reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, boosting endorphin levels and dopamine production (happy hormones!), reducing stress, irritability and feelings of isolation, lowering blood pressure and restoring concentration levels. The more time we spend outdoors, engaging with the natural environment, the better we feel in ourselves. Humans are just animals after all. This 5 session workshop programme is gratefully funded by our Draw Me A Tree Crowdfunding campaign, as part of the #BackTheFuture Climate challenge with Portsmouth City Council. Booking is essential to keep track of numbers and to make sure we bring enough materials. Info - When: The third Sunday of each month April - August 2022 (check the calendar to view dates and book.)
